The Opportunity

A NYC-based leading charter management organization is looking for their first Vice President (VP) who will serve as the organization’s chief strategist charged with shaping the overall direction of academics, professional learning and organizational growth. Reporting to the President, the VP will also play a large role in the continued success and innovation around a network-wide personalized learning program.

Who You Are

  • Innovative Leader. With more than 10+ years as an executive leader leading high performing school districts or charter networks, you are an innovative leader, analytical thinker and strategic thought partner with a proven track record of success. You have skillful implemented innovative, disciplined, and continuously improving processes and systems for academic teams and held teams accountable for achieving measurable results.

  • Instructional Mentor & Developer. As an experienced instructional leader, in and out of the classroom, you are adept at providing meaningful feedback and developmental supports to both teachers and school leaders in addition to emerging educators, that leads to dramatic student achievement gains.

  • Academic Performance Strategist. As a former school-based leader with a proven track record, you understand what it means to drive dramatic student achievement gains and to devise the conditions, the processes and data metrics for predict that success at scale – year over year. Your deep understanding and experience in coaching staff to utilize data will support the organization’s student achievement gains while promoting student agency.

  • Developer of People. As a leader and expert in talent acquisition and development, you have devised and implemented cutting edge strategies for teacher retention and recognition, ensuring that experienced, highly qualified staff are not only recruited to an organization but stay for years to come.

  • Program & Curriculum Engineer. As an expert in curriculum development and academic programming, you understand school design and the effectiveness of an integrated educational mode. As a curriculum and instruction mentor, you have experience in training and developing this skillset in your team members.

  • Organizational Developer. With experience building strong organizations and teams, you have developed organizational effectiveness through talent management and development, change management, performance management and succession planning.

  • School Culture Builder. You understand how to develop a strong culture through great leadership and have experience in developing and collaborating with school leaders to do the same. You demonstrate this belief in the ways you interact with staff and students, how you communicate with families and in your day-to-day work. Your passion and personal commitment to closing the achievement gap is contagious and drives network culture.

  • Effective Communicator. As a seasoned spokesperson, you are able to articulate the organizational and student achievement gains to the larger education community, charter school boards and potential funders.

With sites across the east coast at varying levels of achievement, the VP has the opportunity to build on the foundation of the past several years while taking this organization to the next level.

 

The VP will do this by:

  • Serving as a key developer in crafting ambitious organizational goals and support the President in achieving critical milestones

  • Institutionalizing the systems and structures needed at each site location to drive consistent student achievement gains for all students

  • Developing a organization-wide recruitment and retention strategy aimed at achieving short and long-term hiring goals will continuously engaging the best and brightest early career teachers and mid-senior level teachers who can serve in teacher leader capacities across the organization

  • Providing targeted professional learning and development for all staff, especially those school leaders in their 1st or 2nd year of practice, with the goal of going from good to great across all sites in the next 3-5 years

  • Developing a data driven approach to academic portfolio where opportunities and challenges are identified and addressed systemically based on school based data
