Roseville Community Charter School is seeking an experienced 2018-2019 Director of Curriculum & Instruction to join its Roseville Community Charter School community!

Founded in 2011, Roseville Community Charter School was created to provide a high quality, college preparatory education to students in the Roseville neighborhood of Newark, NJ.  Our mission is to prepare every student for academic excellence while providing a warm, nurturing environment in which all children are supported and thrive. Position: Director of Curriculum & Instruction

About the Opportunity

 

In this role, the Director of Curriculum & Instruction will work report directly to the Principal and will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the instructional vision within the classroom.  The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is to support leadership in developing a robust curriculum program with a deep focus on student achievement and teacher development. For this role, the Director of Curriculum & Instruction will be responsible for but not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities:
*  Exemplify, advocate and operationalize the mission, vision and strategic direction of the school
*  Monitor and sustain a school culture of academic rigor through clear expectations of students, families, faculty, and administrators
*  Implement the school's academic standards, benchmarks, assessments, and curriculum to align with state and national standards
*  Coordinate the administration of internal and external standardized assessments
*  Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis and present that information to faculty and administrators in an easily accessible format
*  Provide leadership to instructional staff in the use of data and the implementation of best instructional practices for high achievement
*  Achieve dramatic and consistent improvement in student academic performance
*  Participant in the recruitment, hiring, evaluate and evaluation of outstanding faculty members
*  Support the professional development and growth of faculty through observations of teachers on a daily basis, providing detailed written and oral feedback
*  Administer, teach and lead professional development
*  Monitor, and sustain a disciplined culture of high academic and behavioral standards
*  Manage designated school-wide routines

 

Qualifications and Certifications
* Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Roseville Community Charter School
* Firm belief in the ability of all students to achieve at high levels, and high expectations for low-income children to become college ready and attend selective universities.
* New Jersey Principal or Supervisor's certification
* Master's Degree preferred
* A minimum of 5 years teaching in an urban school with demonstrated exemplary student results
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Results-driven, with experience using data and assessments to drive instruction
* Experience leading and managing adults
* Strong knowledge of New Jersey Core Curriculum Content and Common Core Standards
* Strong literacy background
* Openness to feedback, willingness to take personal responsibility, and a desire to learn from others
* Unwavering in pursuit of excellence even in the face of difficult opposition and challenges
Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of teachers
