Roseville Community Charter School is seeking an experienced School Psychologist to join its school community!

Founded in 2011, Roseville Community Charter School was created to provide a high quality, college preparatory education to students in the Roseville neighborhood of Newark, NJ.  Our mission is to prepare every student for academic excellence while providing a warm, nurturing environment in which all children are supported and thrive. About the Opportunity

The School Psychologist is a member of the school’s Child Study Team and reports to the Principal. The School Psychologist will serve as the case manager on the Child Study Team and will be instrumental helping in developing the school’s newly formed internal team and processes.

Responsibilities

Assessment

  • Conduct psycho-educational evaluations in the educational setting, including cognitive and academic achievement testing
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments
  • Administer, score and interpret results of standardized assessments
  • Interpret psychological diagnostic data to professionals and parents
  • Collect, analyze, synthesize and interpret information necessary to guide services such as consultation, counseling, behavioral assessment, and intervention planning

Consultation and Collaboration

  • Serve as a leader in the school, building strong relationships with students and their families to support students’ academic success
  • As Case Manager, assists in coordinating, developing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Individual Education Program of designated students
  • Function as a member of the Child Study Team to determine the student's eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and on-going progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings for initial placement of students in special education and exit from special education
  • Consult with education professionals to ensure the academic achievement and social development of students.
  • Collaborates with educators, parents and other professionals to help create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Student Support Services to help provide the necessary supports to students enrolled in the school
  • Serve as a resource person concerning learning differences for school staff and parents

Service Provision

  • Provide a full range of psychological services in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, including counseling sessions for students with IEPs and at-risk students
  • Lead crisis management for students in need of this support

Compliance

  • Implement all procedures to meet compliance standards as outlined in Federal and State Law (i.e., IDEA and Child Find) for the identification and placement of students eligible for special education services.
  • Contribute to I&RS/RtI planning and implementation as needed
  • Refer potential special education students to other appropriate special education diagnostic personnel as appropriate
  • Create, implement, and track behavior intervention plans for students with behavioral needs;

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey school psychologist certification
  • Experience with a variety of psycho-educational and behavioral assessment tools
  • Experience working in an urban school setting; administering standardized assessments
  • Background in counseling and crisis management, including small group settings
  • Successful completion of a School Psychologist master's program
  • Thorough understanding of laws and guidelines surrounding both Special Education Services and Response to Intervention, as well as special education due process procedures and criteria;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of or experience developing interventions for students;
  • Knowledge of alternative service delivery models such as RTI
