What We Do
Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization that empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a robust skills-based health curriculum in under-resourced high schools across the country. Since our founding in 2003, we have trained more than 8,500 college student volunteers to deliver effective health education to over 115,000 public high school students in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, DC. In 2016, PHE launched a five-year strategic plan to focus on growing our effective model while partnering with health and education systems, as well as communities to build a more integrated, sustainable model for health education. What You Will Do

As the Senior Director of Technology, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the technology need of the organization, ensuring we are meeting our goals and objectives efficiently and reliably in service of impact in our communities. Additionally, you will customize, integrate and train staff on our Salesforce platform across many departments. You will report directly to the Assistant Vice President, Finance & Administration, the head of PHE’s Finance, Technology & Operations (“FTO”) team.

 

Here’s A Day In The Life of A Senior Director of Technology

70% Management & Strategic Planning

  • Drive the development of long-term technology and operational vision in alignment with PHE’s strategic priorities and execute against this vision by setting clear objectives and expectations.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to assess the short and long-term needs of the organization and create a multi-year roadmap to attain said objectives.

  • Use BI and analytics to inform both strategies and decisions and do so in a collaborative fashion.

  • Create and oversee the technology budget for the national team; and assist regional sites with the development of regional technology budgets.

  • Document technology processes and procedures.

  • Direct the analysis and resolution of problems associated with staff technology equipment and applications.

  • Oversee service providers and vendors as needed to deliver a highly reliable, well-integrated, and streamlined support system.

  • Serve as hands-on escalation point to identify and implement solutions.

 

15% Operations & Facilities

  • Oversee the operations and facilities needs of the national office in partnership with the IT Generalist.

  • Lead vendor evaluation, selection and management for technology and facilities procurement, while ensuring vendors deliver outstanding levels of service and support.

 

15% Staff Management

  • Manage and develop all direct report(s) to a sustained high level of performance through coaching, mentorship, etc. to ensure that they are constantly acquiring new skills, as well as enhancing and growing their current skills

  • Create and implement effective and relevant staff onboarding and training in conjunction with other departments

  • Exemplify to PHE’s core values and advance PHE’s vision for health equity in all aspects of our work, internally and externally

 

What You'll Bring To The Table

Minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a strong passion for PHE’s mission to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make healthy decisions; strong alignment with PHE’s core values of Health, Equity, Agency, Communication, and Impact

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology OR a related field, and at least seven (7) years of professional experience developing and leading large-scale technology projects

  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional technical management experience working in the following areas:

    • Salesforce CRM management and expansion, including planning, creating and implementing customized deployment

    • Prototyping and maintaining web-based applications and systems, such as; Box, Zoom, Slack, Autopilot, etc.

    • Designing and implementing a learning management system (LMS) across multiple divisions within a medium-to-large sized organization

    • Conversion of a standard manual processes into a web-based platform

  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to engage and lead individuals across various teams with diverse and non-aligned priorities

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent at building relationships with individuals across the organization to better assess and prioritize needs

  • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to evaluate and anticipate challenges and proactively communicate management protocols as needed

  • Research complex problems and develop cost-effective solutions while applying strong analytical and BI tools

  • Experience with selecting and implementing new systems

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the youth development or education non-profit sector preferred

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools a plus

 

Here’s what you should know:
